from amber
I am firstly a daughter, a partner, a sister, an aunt, a friend. Then, I am a celebrated podcaster, speaker, community facilitator and grief mentor.
In 2016, our mother, Susan, died suddenly from a heart attack, with me being 19 at the time. This thrusted myself and all those who loved our mum into navigating a world without her. Being so young and bereaved meant I was forced to view the world differently, without any real consent. I understood the fragility of life and learned how to utilise this borrowed time we’re all on, to the best of my ability.
Well, that part took me 3 years, but nonetheless!
the start
In September of 2019, this is where my mission really began. On a very interesting and chaotic holiday to Morocco, the idea of The Grief Gang was born. I was to start an online page and podcast to brain dump all my thoughts and feelings of my previous and ongoing relationship with my grief. I was dead (pardon the pun) set on my idea and hit the ground running when arriving home.
I began to share my story and all its layers. The funny, confusing, sad, unthinkable bits of my grief and in turn, more people arrived. They shared and resonated too. This thing had legs to it! Before long, I became hungry to interview and share more grieving hearts on the podcast, so that’s what I did…and still do.
Fast forward and The Grief Gang community is continuing to grow from strength to strength. With people from all over the globe bravely sharing their grief and loved ones everyday. We are determined to see a more grief literate world.
Through my dedicated and passionate voice, I have gone on to deliver talks & panel discussions at the University of Cambridge, Westminster and provide consultancy for University of Oxford. I’ve worked closely with numerous brands and businesses to build better conversations around grief and loss.
The podcast has gained traction in its time span and has been recognised and amplified by many news & media outlets such as The BBC, Vogue, Women's Health, The Guardian, Stylist and many more. With interviews on Woman's hour, Channel 5 & BBC 1Xtra, I am no stranger to being behind the mic and delivering compelling, insightful and humorous discussions.
I’m deeply interested and motivated in helping people through the journey of grief. Be it through the podcast, workshops, or 1:1 mentoring, I adore holding and being with you in this sacred space.
